Hispanics At The Crossroads

Embracing a future

Are you Hispanic, Latino, South American, Spanish, Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, or from the Bronx? Congratulations! You are now America's second largest racial minority. Now that you've achieved this wonderful distinction, a stark choice looms. Should you be a Republican or Democrat?

I have some advice. Find the nearest black Democrat. A national bigwig like Cynthia McKinney would be great. Snag a high-profiler like NAACP's Julian Bond, filmmaker Spike Lee, or especially Jesse Jackson, and you'd be all set (although squeezing Brother Jesse's ego through your front door is a challenge).

Sit them down at your kitchen table. Ask them to tell you everything they stand for, everything they believe, and every suggestion they have to offer. Write it all down. Then, escort these esteemed folks to your front door, line them up, and boot their butt so hard they literally fly to the curb. Finally, frame that precious piece of paper and memorize it.

And for the rest of your life, do just the opposite.

I know what you're thinking. "Yeah, but Hispanic and black folk are unequal compared to whites." Yeah, it's unequal. Primarily because neither blacks or Hispanics have listened to white people, or more specifically, white Republicans. Republicans believe in earning their way through life. And Democrats believe in mooching their way through life. And there is a limit to how far mooching will get you. We know Republicans are the party of the rich. We know Democrats are the party of the poor. So ask yourself this obvious question: Why would you want to be poor?

Remember, there's a lot of money in poverty. Poor people get almost none of it. Neither do Republicans. But Democrats get almost all of it. When you hear about some big government program or some class-action lawsuit lottery, you can count on fat-cat Democrats taking home the kitty, leaving you with a few pennies. If that.

It's not that racism doesn't exist, but white America has gone SO FAR past racism it's a shadow of its former self. White people shower millions upon black athletes and entertainers and shower millions of votes to black politicians, trusting them to lead their very lives. But white people also fork up fat bucks to buy or sell houses, clothes, shoes, gas, books, golf balls, cars and anything else black people want to buy or sell. Green has become the big color issue. As in greenbacks. Ka-Ching, baby.

You should ask why Democrats, who supposedly stand up for the downtrodden minority, are hell bent on leading them into obvious pathways to failure? The answer is disturbingly simple: if tomorrow, everything was equal…who needs Democrats? Democrats have a deep interest…no, a deep commitment, to failure. Especially black Democrat leadership. Without black failure, these professional race cranks would have to get real jobs. And you can't find "race-baiting" in the classified section. That job only exists at the Democrat Party.

No wonder, then, Democrats have spewed pure venom at successful black conservatives like Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas and Colin Powell, the highest ranked black man in the history of American government. For spurning the liberal plantation, Powell was actually called a "house slave" by Harry Belafonte (big accomplishment: "DAY-O!-The Banana Boat Song "). Why do you think Democrats are fighting viciously to keep Miguel Estrada from getting confirmed to the D.C. Court of Appeals? If Estrada can get this far, how can Hispanics be convinced that failure is racially inevitable?

So, then…How about modern Hispanic politics? So far, with the exception of Florida Cubans, Hispanic political leadership has leaned left. The results have been predictable. Hispanic fatherless births are twice as high as a decade ago. STD's? Way higher. Drug use? Up. Poverty? In a decade that saw record wealth, no difference. And there's no legacy of Hispanic slavery to blame. This is simply cause and effect. Liberalism creates failure. Just look at modern black America. Then, look at modern white America. Which way do you want to go?

If you've taken my advice, called around and can't get those famous black liberals to visit, I understand. They're probably out chasing TV cameras. Instead, just watch their performance. That'll tell you everything you need to know. Look! There's Al Sharpton blaming white people for everything. Over there! Johnnie Cochran is telling you OJ is innocent. There! Maxine Waters is telling you to hate Whitey. You writing this down? Good! I'm just sorry they aren't lined up at your door for that well-deserved swift kick.
